Many yoga students simply want to learn more about their personal yoga practice and have no plans to teach. In this instance please email Stephanie and she can customize your involvement in a way that will focus on your goals. These workshops also can be taken individually for continuing education for an RYT, ACE, or other certification programs.
"Our inspiration is to share Yoga in ways that are meaningful to you energetically and spiritually. Jaya Yoga is also uniquely grounded in preventing Yoga injuries so that you can continue your practice for the rest of your life ~ we approach Yoga not from what's trendy, but from what's sacred, sustainable, and revolutionary." ~ Pushti (Stephanie Adams)
What to Look for in a Yoga Teacher Training Program
The sanskrit word Jaya means "victory to" or "in celebration of." Jaya Yoga was created in celebration of Yoga in all ways. As you compare different programs and schools, feel free to ask lots of questions about the program and the experience of the Trainers. Not only how long have they been practicing or teaching Yoga, but how long have they been training teachers?
How much experience does the RYS Director have? This is the person organizing and leading the program.
How experienced are the Trainers? ERYT 500 Level with Yoga Alliance (highest level)? SAYF-Certified?
How many students will be allowed into the program?
How many Trainers will you be working with?
Many YTT programs do not really prepare teachers to be able to teach asana to the needs of diverse bodies. We recommend making sure the program you choose has Trainers with experience and knowledge in how tissues get injured, what limits range of motion, the effects of load, and how to simply teach in a way that allows all bodies to feel confident and pain-free? This means progressive options so everyone feels included and language that positively speaks to all bodies in the room.
Choosing a YTT program that respects, honors, and reveres the traditional heart of yoga. Not just asana, but all yoga offers us. And teaches you as a teacher how to bridge the gap between Western students who may be intimidated by yoga and this sacred Eastern tradition without diluting or appropriating the richness of the practice.
Will you graduate with one or more respected credentials? Both Yoga Alliance's "RYT" and/or "SAYF".
Up to this point, you may have been to different classes, teachers, workshops, retreats, trainings, etc. In Jaya we invite you to become immersed with two complimentary and diverse teachers. Stephanie (Pushti) is committed to your deeper yogic experience during and even after our training time together. Traditionally, this is how Yoga was passed down through the ages. Without spending some real time with a long-term teacher, no one to consistently see your progression and practice in your Yoga journey, you may feel something missing in the dedication and devotion you experience on your path.
Is Jaya Yoga Right for You?
Jaya Yoga will challenge your body and mind, and open your heart, if you let it. We will ask a lot from you, and you will get back, what you give. Once you commit to this program, your practice, and your overall well-being…you "catch" Yoga, you become Yoga. You relax into life with the most vital energy you've ever known. If your heart is inspired toward the Jaya Yoga path, you can choose to enter either at the 200-hour or 500-hour level (if you already have your RYT 200).
Our class size is limited to 20 students in our RYT200 Basic Training. It is of the utmost importance to us that we have enough people to generate energy and support, but not so many that we are limited in our personal connection to each student.
