Mentoring RYT 300/500 YTT
Why is our RYT mentoring program extraordinary?
1) SAYF & Human Movement Mechanics:

Our Mentoring YTT will teach you to truly understand bodies, not just postures. The best yoga teachers are teaching to people through understanding bodies and movement, not just repeating alignment cues or memorizing poses.
2) Self-Reflection through Mentoring:

Our Mentoring YTT will teach you to truly understand bodies, not just postures. The best yoga teachers are teaching to people not just repeating alignment cues.
3) Trusted & Experienced Program:
Our YTT program has been upleveling now for nearly 30 years. Every year it gets better and it is already great.
4) Graduate with TWO credentials:
RYT & SAYF
5) Access & Choice:
ACCESS
: Our program can be attended online, in-person, or a combination of both. Our Mentoring YTT is an incredible value, and can be paid for "as you go" monthly.
CHOICE:
Begin with Semester 1 or 2 and then choose your remaining hours:
Semester 1:  September through Mid-January

Semester 2:  Mid-January through Mid-June
75 YTT Hours per Semester = 150 YTT Hrs
Total hours will include group weekly 2-hour mentoring plus more mentoring, weekend/one-day workshops, and online programming series.

AND MORE CHOICE - Elective Hour Choices:
Remaining hours are comprised of electives, and you can choose from several great offerings:
- Destination Trainings in Costa Rica, India, Thailand or Portugal (30-80 YTT/CE hours per trip)
- Weekend Retreats combined with online training in Restorative Yoga & Yoga Nidra (up to 12 YTT/CE hours)
- Choose from SAYF Online Programs, developed by Stephanie Adams, our RYS Director, including:
  • Restorative Yoga & Yoga Nidra,
  • Advanced Sanskrit,
  • Advanced Pranayama,
  • Traditional Meditation Practices of Yoga,
  • Hatha Roll (fascial rolling, asana, & using a foam roller as an innovative prop for practice),
  • Trauma Sensitive Yoga Training,
  • Mantra/Mudra,
  • SAYF Movement
- Weekend Workshops provided by guest master teachers

When?
We will meet either Mondays or Fridays 12-2 PST (Whichever works best for the majority). You can attend either in-person in-studio or live online for a master class and then a lesson. I’d like everyone to attend “live” (but if you need to miss an average of one live session a month, you can make it up via recording). There will be 1-2 hours of homework each week, as well, which will often include a weekly quiz.

Who?
Our group of 12-20 Trainees will gather for 2 hours/week (you choose: either Online or In-Studio). To further the experience, our group will, also, be taking, or reviewing, the SAYF Training simultaneously along with the mentoring hours for the first Semester.

What will we be doing?
Our mentoring time focus will always include philosophy, pranayama, meditation and mantra. We will also be really refining and upleveling our language (including inclusive and trauma-informed language), pose options and deeper understanding of human movement mechanics so that every pose can be both practiced and/or taught progressively for all bodies, and so much more. The best asana teachers are teaching to people through understanding bodies and movement, not just repeating alignment cues or memorizing poses.  In addition to our scheduled 2 hours, you will will have access to the SAYF Training while you are mentoring, and will have email access to me during this mentoring time, as well.  As we get further along, there will also be practice teaching options (but only when/if you feel really ready) where I will give feedback to improve your teaching.

Your time commitment

3-4 hours/week (includes both SAYF study and email access, as well). And, if interested, you will earn 15 hours/month toward CEs, 200 RYT, or 300/500 RYT. Your monthly cost will be $199 via autopay until we feel you are done, or you choose to cancel.

How to register/purchase?
You can sign-up anytime to commit. $199/month autopay. This also INCLUDES access to the $499 SAYF 2.0 Training.

Mentoring & Completing your RYT 200:
Semester 1:
September-Jan: 20 weeks of learning to teach SAYF asana, beyond the 8 limbs, philosophy, pranayama, meditation and mantra
Semester 2:

Mar-April 2025: 3-Week Advanced Pranayama Course
April 2025: SAYF Movement - NEW course focusing on learning to progress options for all major joints
May-June 2025 - Upleveling Your Teaching, Ethics, Mantra, Mudra, Sanskrit, & More

Financial Commitment:
10 months of mentoring at $199/month for completing these foundational courses = $1990 = 150 hours
These 10 months will give you the foundation you need to prepare you to teach yoga classes with upleveled language (including inclusive and trauma-informed language), pose options and deeper understanding of human movement mechanics so that every pose can be both practiced and/or taught progressively for all bodies, and so much more!
For the rest of the required 200 hours, you will need an additional 50 hours. You can choose from any of the programming listed below. If you can make it happen, we highly recommend including one of the Retreats so that you can experience the transformational benefit of creating this time away with like-minded persons supporting your growth through the lens of yoga. The One Week Intensives include 30 hours toward YTT, and India is 80 hours.

Once you’ve completed an RYT 200 Teacher Training, you have the opportunity to continue your training at the 500-hour level. This requires an additional 300 hours of training through a Yoga Alliance-approved Registered Yoga School (RYS). Jaya Yoga Teacher Training has been an RYS with Yoga Alliance since .

We created a mentoring-focused, module-style program that can be completed within a customizable time frame that works for you; completing an RYT 300/500 within 1-3 years or over ten years. Each year, we offer week-long intensives both domestically and internationally that can be applied towards your RYT 300/500 as you feel inspired to learn and grow as a practitioner and teacher. There are also some shorter (1, 2 and 3 day) trainings at our studio, and around the Northwest that also support your learning and growth.

The One-Week Intensive format has proven to be an amazing opportunity for growth, connection, and transformation. Taking some real time away from everyday life to create a “pattern interrupt” creates the space to discover the essence of who you truly are. Community and travel to sacred locations are also a great benefit of our RYT 500 Program.

As a prerequisite, attendees must have a foundational yoga teacher training completed (RYT 200 or equivalent training) AND you will be required to be enrolled in the SAYF Certification as a prerequisite for your attendance in our Advanced Training so there will be consistency in terms of biomechanical terms and understanding, as well as, accessibility options for asana (these hours count toward your overall 300 hours). This insures that you have a solid understanding of our style of teaching regarding sacred energy flow, bandhas and aligning the body from a human movement perspective to help prevent yoga injury.

All  courses are taught from thousands of pages of content Stephanie has written from her lineages and experience, SAYF Training and manuals, as well as, reliance on both Patanjali's Yoga Sutras, Bhagavad Gita and more.

We customize our weeklong intensives for those who are attending (and we prioritize based on who is closest to finalizing their 300/500 to make sure they are satisfying all of the required Yoga Alliance standards for 300/500 RYT), here are some of the areas we can focus on.
Please choose your Top 5 and let Stephanie know where you want to start:
  • Restorative Yoga
  • Yoga Nidra
  • Yin Yoga
  • Adjusting/assisting asana (physical “adjustments”)
  • Trauma-Informed yoga classes
  • Pranayama & bandhas - advanced techniques
  • Chakras - a deeper understanding
  • The Bhagavad Gita
  • Vijnana Bhairava Tantra - The Radiance Sutras
  • Advaita Vedanta
  • Patanjali Yoga Sutras & the yoga of relationship
  • The yamas/niyamas & building a life of trust
  • Postural Analysis & Body Balancing Therapeutics
  • Mantra/Mudra
  • Making asana more Accessible (Seniors, Body Positive, & Chair Yoga)
  • The Yoga of Sound/Japa Yoga
(some of these subjects will be offered within One Week Intensives and some scheduled separately)

Jaya Yoga Training Highlights

  • At the 500 hour level we tailor the focus of our week-long intensives to those who are attending and
  • we deeply study Patanjali's Yoga Sutras, including the essentials of Yoga philosophy, the 3-Step Plan, 8 Limbed System, and Yamas and Niyamas.
  • We teach asana/postures/modifications/vinyasas (some unique to Jaya Yoga) from an alignment, kinesiology, and energetic perspective. We explore asana thoroughly to balance the muscles and prevent yoga injury, looking at asana together as standing poses, backbends, forward bends, twists, arm balances and inversions.
  • Kinesiology is the study of movement, performance, and function by applying the sciences of biomechanics, anatomy, physiology, and psychology. From a yogic perspective, we look deeply into the poses and apply the ancient science of bandhas (energetic seals/locks) with modern functional strength/muscle balancing. Additionally, we take into consideration skeletal anatomy and develop an understanding of the physiology of stretching to "see" both the benefits and limitations of asana to balance the physical body.
  • Discussion of common yoga injuries and how to prevent them through progression, modifications, and options.
  • We develop an understanding of the subtle energy body: koshas, chakras, rasas and nadis, and understand the benefit of pranayama, kriya, mudra, and asana to connect with the inherent vital energy that we are.
  • Energetically balancing our classes with hatha and vinyasa. The energetic and physical practices of mantra and mudra will be introduced and practiced, including practical ways you can incorporate them into classes. Meditation and pratyahara (sense withdrawal) will be daily practice using a variety of techniques, as will the other limbs of the 8-limbed system.
  • Mindful Adjustments. Learning to connect individually and energetically with students first, and secondly, through visual, verbal, and touch. Physical adjustments are an advanced teaching technique that should be applied with experience once a teacher has become comfortable with teaching technique and creating connection.
