Moderation365 Metabolic Mindset Fitness & Nutrition for Positive Aging (at all ages!) In this workshop we will discuss recent research from top experts in the field (scientists and doctors) and my experience (including nutrition considerations for recovery from surgery or injury), and have time for questions. Additionally, we will acknowledge and affirm what each of us are already doing well. The Moderation365 approach is very much about mindset!
I will not be telling you exactly what to eat or recommending a bunch of supplements. No 30-day plans either. Short-term fixes do not yield long-term results. Yo-yo dieting is terrible for your metabolic health and can have long-term consequences. Consistency over intensity. Monotrophic diets are not healthy or sustainable either (eating all of one food or one food group). I know firsthand how tempting short-term fixes are but don't do it. Trust me.
We will talk about what does work. With 1/2 a pancreas, no spleen, and the lifelong metabolic roller coaster I’ve been on (trauma=elevated cortisol which affects blood sugar and metabolism), I’ve learned a lot. My body and energy have never felt better and I am 57. I am slowly building muscle, retaining bone, and repairing my metabolism.
What we will talk about is ahealthy life-long approach to nourishing and supporting your body, and I will share some specific information around the most recent research regarding prioritizing protein and whole foods that can work for your eating preference (including vegan and vegetarian). We will also discuss what yoga teaches us about nutrition and lifestyle.

"For the past year, my focus has been on regaining and adding muscle and allowing my body’s endocrine system to recover from the removal of half of one of it’s important endocrine organs. It truly takes time to repair the metabolism. Most experts say a year or more. Body composition while maintaining lean body mass will be my next phase but with no attachment to results. If maintaining or changing body composition (weight loss) is important to you, I can share with you what research says about doing that in a way that will not negatively impact your metabolism and will sustain as much healthy muscle and bone tissue as possible. Its a slow but sustainable process. Again, consistency over intensity. I know…its not as exciting as a quick fix but so much more worth it."
