Hood River Ski Team

Hood River Valley High School This season as part of their dry land training Hood river high school trained with Sybil Nance at FLOW YOGA.

Team members practiced for an hour and half every Friday afternoon to prepare for Saturday races. Sybil and Coach Jessica Gunesh tailored the class to the needs of the athletes.

Early in the season they worked on breath techniques to warm the body, maximize the oxygen intake for performance, and encouraging the skiers to take some time to center and focus as they got to the starting gate.

The focus of the training took the skiers thru a series of pre-race stretches and strength work to warm and stretch their bodies at the top of the course. Increasing the skiers range of motion in the hips and torso twisting helps them to ski strong with decrease risk of wear and tear injuries to their bodies.
